Spires of empty paper towel rolls and random cardboard boxes rose to the sky in towering splendor. Buttons and gems of all kinds covered its surface, sparkling in the light. It was the coolest thing I had ever made in all my seven years of life. 

While my creations have moved up from paper towel rolls and recyclables, my passion for creating has only gotten stronger. 

In the early 2000s, that passion had me waiting patiently through the dial-up tones of our slow internet, looking up HTML and CSS codes to create websites from scratch—pairing it with designs I had done in whatever graphics programs my Dad had installed on our Windows computer. 

I’m not going to say those old designs were good … but they jump-started my love for graphic and web design.
